Hello! I am so glad that you are here!
Seeking out help in therapy is a courageous step.
I have always been a person that has enjoyed helping others. My journey to become a therapist hasn’t been linear. Early in my career I began working in the not-for-profit arena helping organizations that helped others. Becoming a therapist had always been on my radar and because of my own personal experience in counseling, I returned to college in 2009 and received my master’s degree in social work from Indiana University.
I bring a non-judgmental and empathetic approach to our sessions. During our initial session, we’ll talk about your desires, goals and how you’ll know when you don’t need therapy anymore. Our working relationship is very important and forms the foundation of our work together. I value you and strive to offer a genuine and compassionate therapeutic approach to encourage change in a hopeful environment.
I provide care for a diverse clientele dealing with a wide array of mental health challenges. I specialize working with people dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma/ PTSD, transitions, grief, and loss. My expertise lies in the treatment of trauma and PTSD, primarily utilizing Eye movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR therapy is a relatively brief and non-invasive treatment method that utilizes bilateral stimulation such as rapid eye movement, alternating sounds, or movement to activate the brains innate healing processes.
I believe that the therapeutic process is individually unique- not a cookie cutter approach. I customize our work together using a solution focused, strengths based and person-centered approach. I also draw from evidence based therapeutic models such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and attachment-based interventions to provide structure to help in understanding the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and actions. I like to get a little creative too by adding creative and play therapy interventions because sometimes words just aren’t enough – sometimes we need to paint, sculpt, or play our way to healing.
I embarked on this journey because I firmly believe in the sacred nature of healing, where every individual's journey holds significance. As a therapist, witnessing people's transformation and growth firsthand is immensely gratifying and reaffirms the profound privilege it is to walk this journey with my clients.
I have experience working in the home-based and school based therapeutic settings as well as in an outpatient setting at a community mental health center. Through these environments, I gained an understanding of how trauma and hard things impact individuals and families. I have been working in private practice for several years and continue to bring my passion for people, connection, and emotional understanding to the people I have a privilege to work with every day.
My Story
I’m a Midwest kid through and through with Indiana as my stomping ground until 2019 when I moved to Nashville, Tennessee. I am licensed to practice in both Indiana and Tennessee.
During my leisure time, I enjoy embarking on spontaneous adventures with my husband and cherish any opportunity to visit my adult children residing in Indianapolis and Boston. Whether it's spending quality time with family and friends or indulging in outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, or playing pickleball, I find joy in every moment, especially when accompanied by a good cup of coffee.
But let's shift the focus to you – I'm here to listen to your narrative. Your aspirations, challenges, and visions for the future matter deeply. By working together, we can transform your dreams into tangible realities and craft a new chapter in your life's story.
